Facilities

Research and experience have shown that the use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) enhances the teaching and learning process and contribute to skill formation. The infrastructure of the institution is continuously enhanced with this view.

We have installed

1.      Smart Class rooms.

The institution has 13 spacious, well ventilated class rooms (Smart class rooms) with black boards, white boards, interactive boards, LCD projector, podiums and adequate seating facility for learners. 

Smart Classroom is a comprehensive strategy for digital education in GCM. Smart Classrooms enable students and faculties to make use of every available resource from one point at the click of a button. It enables the faculty to innovatively impart knowledge. It also acts like an electronic board where everything written on it can be saved as a file for future reference.

2.      EDUSAT facility

EDUSAT is the first Indian satellite built exclusively for serving the educational sector.

It is mainly intended to to meet the demand for an interactive satellite based distance education system for the country and strongly reflects India’s commitment to use space technology for national development, especially for the development of the population in remote and rural locations.

To cater the benefits  of distant education to the student populace of the State, Govt College Mananathavady has setup EDUSAT facility with the aid from Govt of Kerala, which facilitates live streaming of classes by experts. It has a seating capacity of 40.Audio Visual Room with modern amenities such as LCD projector, interactive board, TV etc acts as the seminar hall as well as board room. 

3.      High speed Wi-Fi internet facility

 GCM has fully Wi-fi enabled campus for uninterrupted flow of information to integrate the education process & develop new mind sets.

The Departments, hostels are connected to the campus via the campus wide wi-fi network which enables the residents to browse the internet and access the online library resources for their academic and research related work.

Students can contact the Network Administrator at the college campus to get the individual wi-fi IP for their laptops.

4. Digitalized Central Libarary

Central Library occupies a place of pride in GCM and is an essential component of the institute's outstanding research and education mission.

It is a most lively place on the campus providing a safe, comfortable and friendly environment that enables learning and advancement of knowledge, and promotes discovery and scholarship. The objective of the library is to facilitate creation of new knowledge through acquisition, organization and dissemination of knowledge resources and providing for value added services. All operations of the Library are automated with the help of an integrated library software package. The database for the entire collection has been created and available through On-Line Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) to the users. 

Library is open from morning till evening. Apart from books on technical subjects related to discipline and courses, it houses books of general interest, magazines and daily newspapers. Well equipped with more than 30 journals in print, both national and international, the library supports the research needs across varied disciplines. The library has also joined INFLIBNET which enables the students to access the journals online. 

5.      Digital Language Lab for developing communication skills 

The GCM has set up a fully air conditioned Digital Language Lab with 20 multimedia computers, which is designed for learning foreign languages and equipped with headset, printer and scanners. The computers connected to monitoring devices enabling the instructor to listen and speak to the students individually or as a group. 

6 Central Computer Lab

The computer centre is a fully air-conditioned facility. 

It enables students to remain updated and to sharpen their skills in computing and related areas, so indispensible in today’s world. Students may make full use of this facility to hone their skills at handling computers. The fully air conditioned centralized computing facility is created with the aid and assistance of UGC and Govt of Kerala. Besides C Lab there is a fully air conditioned UGC Network Resource Centre (17 computers with 16 Mbps internet connectivity There is a dedicated network of advance computer system, on which free internet is available to all users.

The College has well-equipped Electronics and Physics Labs to cater to the needs of B.Sc. Electronics Sciences course that the College offers.

The College is aware that with changing times and courses, these labs need to be continuously upgraded and updated. The lab is equipped with 15 workstations, each consisting of a function generator, oscilloscope, triple power supply and digital multi-meters.  The lab is primarily used by students to do their projects and undergraduate electronics-based experiments.

8 Hostel

The Government College Mananthavady has a well furnished Women’s hostel and Boys Hostel in the campus built with financial aid from Government. 

The hostels have adequate space for dining and recreation. An atmosphere of mutual consideration and friendly co-operation coupled with care and comfort makes the hostel an enjoyable place to live in and a quite place to do serious study and relax.
