The Ceneral Library

The Ceneral Library is subdivided into (i) the Lending Section (ii) The Reference Section.

I. Lending Section

(1) The college library is under the general supervision of the Librarian of the library and the ultimate control of the Principal.

(2) Books be issued to the students according to the following schedule.

Monday

B. Sc. Electronics I, II and III

Tuesday

B. Com. First and Second

Wednesday

B. Com. Final

Thursday

English I, II and III

Friday

Economics I, II and III

(3) Application for books from the lending section must ordinarily be made to the Librarian in the form provided before 1.30 p.m. No student will be given more than one book at a time.

(4) Books will be issued after 3.30 p.m. ordinarily in the order of appli-cation. In the case of application received between 1.30 and 4.30 p.m. books will be issued before 1.30 p.m. the next day.

(5) Before receiving a book, the borrower shall initial the entry in the register and verify that the number of book and the date of issue are correctly recorded.

(6) Students must examine the books given to them and report to the Librarian if they find them in a damaged condition before taking then away.

(7) Borrowed books must be returned within a fortnight when they can be re-issued for a further period of seven days, if no one else has applied for them. Absence from the college will not be accepted as an excuse for delay in the return of books. The Librarian may recall any book at any time even if the period of loan has not expired.

(8) Students are not allowed to pass book from one to another or to lent them to any one in or out of the college. They will be held responsible for the loss or damage to book lent to them. Marking in books and spoiling the binding or illustration will be held to be serious damage.

(9) If student accidently losses a book borrowed by him from the library he shall immediately report the matter to the Principal through the Professor-in-charge of library and 3 times the cost of the book together with fine up to date to the Librarian.

(10) When returning a book the borrower must see that the date of its return is entered in the register.

(1 1) Failure to return a book on or before the due date entails the students to pay a fine of Re. 1 per day delay for each book. In calculating the fine, holidays and periods of vacation will not be counted. When the due date falls on a holiday or in the vacation the next working day will be the due date.

(12) All arrears of library fines due shall be paid by the student before they receive their hall tickets for the University Examination at the termination of their academic course or before they receive their transfer certificate if they leave before the completion of their academic course.

II. Reference Section

The section consists of books for reference and consultation only such as Dictionaries, Encyclopedias etc. Books may be obtained from the Librarian from 9.30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. on all working days. They shall not be removed from the Library except with the special sanction of the Librarian. They must be returned on the same day, and the application must be taken back. Violation of the rule will be result on the students being deprived of the use of this section.

The periodicals placed on the table should in no case be removed from the place allotted for each. Current magazine and journals may be taken out by the member of the staff after 5 p.m. but they should be returned by 9 a.m. on the next day. Old periodicals may however be kept for a week.

Readers are requested to use all magazines and journals with care. Strict silence must be observed in the library. Students violating these rules will be sent out from the library and reading room and are liable for further disciplinary action.
