Sasthrayaan 2018

Sasthrayaan 2018’ was held in Government College Mananthavady on 21st and 22nd February 2018. The programme was organized in association with Government of Kerala and RUSA.More than 800 people participated in this event. People from all walks of life came to witness the programme, including students and teachers from nearby schools and colleges, parents, media persons and general public.

 

The programme was officially inaugurated by the District Panchyath President Smt. T. Ushakumari on 21st February at 10 am in the College Auditorium. The Principal Smt. Beena Sadasivan presided over the function. Dr. N. Manoj, Vice-Principal delivered the welcome speech. Sri. John C.C. Member, Edavaka Grama Panchyath; Sri Ceasar Jose, P.T.A. Vice President; Sri. Krishnan A.V., Office Superintend and Sri. Nijas, Chairman, College Union delivered felicitations. Smt. Sumabalakrishnan, Co-ordinator, Shastrayan delivered the vote of thanks. The inaugural session was followed by ‘ranga puja’, a dance performance by the students of the college.

 

There were altogether 28 exhibition stalls. All the departments (Department of Commerce, Dev. Economics, Electronics, English, Hindi, History, Malayalam, Mathematics, Philosophy, Physical Education and Physics) NCC, NSS, Women’s Cell units and College Union of the college had their stalls. There were also stalls from local bodies and other government institutions like Kerala Sasthra Sahithya Parishad, Kerala Health Department, Pazhashi Library, Kudumbasree and an exhibition of rare seeds and organic vegetables by Sri. Emanuel.

 

Different stalls displayed items like logistic management, GST, coin collection, banking, Social Security Schemes, details about English writers and Noble Prize winners, working models of home appliances, electronic devices, 3D printing, 3D shows, dramatic representation of the horror novel Frankenstein, traditional items in heritage museum, yoga exhibition, sports equipments, photo exhibition, student counseling center, NCC, NSS activities, food festival and various game shows.

Various classes, seminars and film shows were also conducted as part of Sastrayaan. On 21st morning Sri. Saju, Joint RTO, Mananthavady took classes on Road Safety and was followed by a Magic Show by Sri. Vivek and a Seminar on Vikaspidea I.T Mission. In the afternoon various cultural programmes were performed by the students. On 22nd morning a magic show titled Magical Realism by Mahesh Fairymojo and team was performed. It was followed by Yoga demonstration by Praveen T Rajan. In the afternoon spot dance competition and skit were performed by the students. The two day pragramme ended on 22nd February 2018 at 5.30 pm with the screening of short films by the college union.
